One of the best games of 2022 is now making its way to PC and PlayStation consoles. I’m terrified that people will live on after I am gone, that my child will one day become old and pass on, and her children will grow old and pass on and nothing matters but at the same time EVERYTHING matters. The other day I had one of those weird reminders that, yes, one day I will die and I am terrified at the thought of what comes next. Meanwhile I’m over here counting down the days to my inevitable death.
It’s so funny to now see that generation of game consoles be nostalgia, but all those kids who were 10 when stuff like Dark Cloud came out are now in their early 30’s and ready to recapture their youth. Unfortunately, there's still no sign of the rumoured Silent Hill reboot, and Capcom is yet to release a Resident Evil 4 Remake demo.The involvement of XSEED immediately puts Trinity Trigger on my radar, though I’m not sure I dig the PS2 era graphics and gameplay. The show ended with a look at God of War Ragnarok, which will launch alongside a special DualSense controller on November 9. Sadly, however, the game won't be released until 2024.
Team Ninja also made an appearance, showing off gameplay footage for stunning action game Rise of the Ronin. Formerly known as Project Eve, fans were given a look at the newly renamed action game Stellar Blade, which will launch next year. Other games showcased during the event include Pacific Drive and Synduality which will both launch in 2023. The State of Play continued with an extended look at its PlayStation Stars reward scheme, complete with a preview of some exclusive items.
According to Sony, the upcoming Harry Potter spinoff will feature a PlayStation exclusive mission. Elsewhere, Like a Dragon Ishin was announced for February 2023, while Hogwarts Legacy was given a creepy gameplay trailer. The surprise Tekken reveal was followed by a look at some PSVR 2 games, including Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge, and Demeo. Announced for PS5, Tekken 8 wasn't given a release date, with the trailer ending by telling fans to stay tuned. UPDATE: Sony kicked off today's State of Play event with a look at a brand new and highly cinematic Tekken game.
